Tiffany’s interest in birth began when she became pregnant with her first child, and had a pregnant friend who was planning a home birth. After much research and prayer, she chose to birth at a birth center, and had such a challenging and beautiful experience, that she decided to birth her subsequent three children at home. After the birth of her fourth child, Tiffany decided to pursue a career in birth as a labor doula and childbirth educator, with the goal of becoming a midwife once her children are grown. She trained as a doula in October, 2007, and became certified October, 2009. She trained as a childbirth educator in October of 2008, and is still pursuing certification. Tiffany believes that basic, evidence-based knowledge of both the birth process and your birth options are necessary to eliminating the “fear factor” in pregnancy and birth, and she strives to do just that as a doula, and in her future childbirth classes. She has faith that her clients, when presented with this information, can and will make the best decisions for them—and those decisions will be different for each woman. Ultimately, her goal as a doula in assisting clients is to help them make the best of every circumstance surrounding their pregnancy and birth, in order to have the healthiest, most empowering birth experience possible for them—no matter the particular outcome. As a childbirth educator, her goal is to equip families to foster a healthy, working relationship with their chosen care providers, and to be fully prepared for birth in the place of their choice.
